Each passing year brought more custom.  What seemed like a large bookshop at first, soon became smaller and smaller

WE JUST OUTGREW OURSELVES

Where do we go from here we asked, move to another kingdom perhaps?

In the summer of 1997, a wonderful opportunity arose - or was it a daunting challenge!

The perfect castle became available, but - oh dear - it was virtually derelict

Such potential, all that was needed was time, hardwork and vision

We started the transformation..........

Cleaned, decorated and carpeted, the ugly duckling was beginning to turn into a swan.

Moving the books was an even a bigger challenge.

Would we do it in time?

The Bookshop Garforth moved to bigger & better premises in 1997

Suddenly we had a deadline!

  The local Member of Parliament became involved, but could only officially open the new Garforth Bookshop on Monday at 12.00 noon

 Time was running out!
